Wattyl Releases Colour Trend Palettes 2018

Wattyl, Australia’s longest-standing paint brand*, has released its colour trends forecast for 2018.

Extensive global research into consumer lifestyles and the multiple factors affecting a person’s sense of place and wellbeing have enabled the brand to pinpoint our collective mood in terms of living spaces and the role we wish them to play.

Careful analysis, says Wattyl, reflects a fast-paced world of hi-tech; fake news; and increasing pollution – an environment that consumers seek to counterbalance by creating a home that is a sanctuary, a personal haven to refocus and re-balance.

Unlike many colour trend forecasts, Wattyl’s predictions are based on genuine research on a global scale.  The findings depict a clear increase in the desire for the home to act as a refuge, a place to retreat from the fast pace of everyday life and recharge.  FOMO (fear of missing out) has been replaced by JOMO (joy of missing out)!

And while each of us is increasingly dependent on technology, the research suggests there is a growing sense of nostalgia; a yearning for simpler times as a counterbalance to the clamour and pace of the outside world.

Wattyl has developed four colour palettes for next year that capture the collective mood for living spaces that feel both safe and nurturing.
